SAM-o project is an intriguing exploration of the intersection between technology, art, and social commentary, presented as an app for iPhone and Android.

The core concept of SAM-o revolves around critiquing contemporary digital culture. By creating cartoon "friends" that are continuously randomized, the app comments on the reproduction of novelty in the digital space. This feature reflects a cycle of repetition, a theme central to the app's critique. The use of randomization serves as a metaphor for the ephemeral and often superficial nature of digital content and interactions.

Furthermore, García's app pushes the concept of eternal recurrence to an absurd extreme, highlighting the transient and often meaningless nature of app culture. SAM-o effectively strips down the gloss of digital media to reveal what García perceives as its true essence: just another marketing scheme (JAMS). This satirical approach challenges users to reconsider their engagement with digital content and the value they derive from it.

The app is not just a digital tool but a statement on the nature of digital interaction and the commodification of digital content. It serves as a reminder of the need for mindful engagement with technology and challenges the often passive consumption of digital media.

The soundtrack was composed by David Kamp
