Facebook Religion
Year: 2014
In "Facebook as a Religion," I explored the burgeoning influence of social media as a contemporary deity of connection and dopamine-driven interaction. Through this project, I sought to encapsulate the almost sacred fervor with which society has come to regard platforms like Facebook, paralleling the devotion typically reserved for traditional religions.
My goal was to invoke reflection on the digital devotion and the ritualistic engagement we exhibit towards social networks, questioning the depth of their impact on our culture and individual sense of self. This project stands as a visual critique and a conversation starter on the cult-like following that social media has amassed and the deification of the platforms that connect us.
